8:00 a.m. Holy Communion - Drawn from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, this service includes a sermon and the lectionary (Bible lessons) for the day. The service incorporates symbols and traditions from both Catholic and Protestant practices. Like most services in the Episcopal Church, the central act of the service is the Eucharist, or Holy Communion, in which all people are invited to participate in whatever way is comfortable for them.
10:30 a.m. Holy Communion - This service is the same as the 8:00 celebration of Holy Eucharist except for the addition of organ music and our choir. If you are not Episcopalian, we provide a complete worship guide to make it easy for you to follow the service.
Children's Chapel/Children's Sermon - On the first Sunday of each month, children remain in the sanctuary for a "Children's Sermon". The following Sundays of the month, young children (ages 9 through 5th grade) are invited to attend Children's Chapel. At a point designated in the 10:30 a.m. service, an adult worship leader leads the children from the sanctuary to the Children’s Chapel for Bible stories, music/singing, and a craft activity. Prior to communion, the children will return to their parents for participation in the balance of the service. Naturally, children are also welcome simply to stay in the sanctuary for the entire service.
Nursery and Cry Room - Children are always welcome at the services at St. David’s, but we realize that sometimes they can be a distraction for the parents’ worship experience. We have a fully equipped Nursery, located down the stairs to the right of the sanctuary as you enter the main doors of the church or to the left as you exit the sanctuary, and a ‘cry room’ adjacent to the sanctuary (complete with closed circuit television and diaper changing facilities). The Nursery is professionally staffed during the 8:00 a.m. service, 9:15 a.m. Sunday School, and 10:30 a.m. service, but it is also available for parents’ use at any time.
Pick Up a Busy Bag - In front of the doors to the sanctuary is a basket of brightly colored ‘Busy Bags’ for you to pick up for your child on your way into church. They are filled with needed supplies to keep your child quietly entertained. Use these items when quiet is necessary, but let your child participate during active times like singing or standing.
